Why should you, a young Muslim, be helping to bring your friends closer to Allah?

After all, you've got your own struggles to deal with: trying to explain why
you pray to hostile teachers, Hijab discrimination, standing up in class
when the professor attacks Islam, dealing with parents who think you've gone
nuts because you're growing a beard, or all the other difficulties faced by
a number of practicing Muslim youth?

Islam was never meant to be an individualistic faith, reserved for the
"chosen few". Muslims have a duty to spread the Deen, and practicing Muslim
youth, whether beginners, activists or leaders have a crucial role to play.

"Allah has put them in a position that perhaps no one else is in," notes
Sheema Khan, former Muslim Youth of North America (MYNA) advisor for eastern
Canada. "They have the means to communicate with their peers, they have an
understanding of what they're going through plus they have the guidance of
Islam."

Who is your childhood friend, who would rather spend Fridays at MacDonald's
than the Masjid, or your classmate who is Muslim in name and only knows that
"Muslims don't eat pork" going to listen to: the nice Imam of the Masjid who
would freak out if he saw the way they were dressed and talked or you who
may have grown up with them, joked with them, or see them everyday in
school?

The answer is obvious: you.

Don't panic. Here are some tips and advice which can help from other
Muslims, many of whom have been there and done that:

*Tip #1: Make your intention sincere*

All work we do should ideally be for the sake of Allah. That includes the
task of bringing someone closer to Allah. That of course means this should
not be connected to arrogance, thinking you're the teacher and everyone else
should be lucky you've embarked on a crusade to save them. Guidance is from
Allah. Make Dua and make sincere efforts and remember Allah can also
misguide you if He wills (we seek refuge in Allah from that).

*Tip #2: Practice what you preach*

Not practicing what you preach is wrong and you will lose the confidence of
anyone, young or old, once they figure you out. Don't do it.

*Tip #3: Use the Qur'an and Seerah (biography of the Prophet) as Dawa guides
*
Read and understand those chapters of the Qur'an which talk about how the
Prophets presented the message of Islam to their people. Read the Seerah
(for some good Seerah
books<http://soundvision.com/cgi-bin/soundvision.storefront/EN/catalog/10033>)
to see especially how the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)
brought Islam to so many different people, including young people.

As well, talk to Dawa workers, and check out books that have been written on
introducing dawa to non Muslims

*Tip #4: Talk to people as if you really don't know them
*
Don't assume you know someone just by looking at them. You don't know that
the Muslim girl in your homeroom who walks through the school's hallways as
if they were fashion show catwalks * *is not someone you can talk to about
Allah because she looks like a snob. Or that the Muslim guy who you've never
seen at Jumah at your university is a "bad Muslim". Maybe he was never
really taught Islam and has no idea what importance Friday prayers have in
Islam, especially for Muslim men.

*Tip #5: Smile*

Did you know the Prophet was big on smiling? But many "practicing" Muslims
seem to have "their faces on upside down" as one speaker once said-frowning
and serious.

Smiling, being polite and kind are all part of the manners of the Prophet,
which we must exercise in our daily lives. If we want to approach others
with Islam, we have to make ourselves approachable. Smiling is key to this.

But note that being approachable does not mean being flirtations with the
other gender. There are Islamic rules for how men and women should deal with
each other which have to be respected. Dawa is no excuse to have long and
private conversations and meetings with the other sex, for example. Set up a
system where someone expressing an interest in Islam is referred to someone
of the same sex.

*Tip #6: Take the initiative and hang out with them
*
Take the first step and invite someone you may have spoken to a couple of
times to sit at lunch together, to check out a hockey game or invite them
over for Iftar in Ramadan. Also, share difficulties, sorrows and
frustrations. Help with homework, be a shoulder to cry on when depression
hits, or just plain listen when your friend is upset, discuss common
problems and KEEP THEIR SECRETS. There are few things as annoying as a
snitch and backstabber. But an important note: if the problem is of a
serious nature, (i.e. your friend is thinking of committing suicide or is
taking drugs), notify and consult an adult immediately.

*Tip #7: Show them Islam is relevant today, right here, right now
*
Young people may think Islam is too "old fashioned" and not in tune with the
modern age. Prove this wrong. Show how Islam is really about relating to
Allah, which any human being can do, anywhere, anytime. Allah is always
closer to you than your jugular vein and He hears and knows everything.
Encourage friends to ask Allah's help during tests, exams, and in dealing
with problems at home with parents and siblings. Also point out how Islam
relates to teenagers: Islam gives you focus and an understanding of who you
are and where you are going, which most of "teen culture" does not.

*Tip #8: Get them involved in volunteer work with you

*If you are already involved in the community, get your friend to help out.
Ask them to make a flyer for one of your youth group's events or brainstorm
for ideas about activities to hold this school year. This involvement makes
them feel part of the Muslim community and deepens your friendship, since
you are now working together on something beneficial for both of you. Make
sure you thank them for their contribution.

*Tip #9: Ask them 4 fundamental questions

*As your friendship develops, you will notice the topics you discuss may
become more serious. You may be discussing, for instance, future goals and
plans. Khan recommends four questions to ask that can steer the topic to
Allah and Islam:

  a. Where am I going in life and what would make me really happy deep down
  inside?
  b. What do I believe?
  c. Who should I be grateful to?
  d. Did I get to where I am today without the help of anyone?

*Tip #10: Emphasize praying five times a day before any other aspect of
Islam
*A person's main connection with Allah, on a daily basis, is through the
prayer five times a day. Don't emphasize any other aspect of Islam until
your friend starts making a real effort to pray five times a day. Emphasize
the direct connection one has with Allah in prayer. If they are facing a
problem, tell them to pray, and to ask Allah for help in Salah and outside
this time. When possible, make it a point to pray together during your "hang
out time". If your friend begins to pray, that is the first step to other
aspects of Islam like giving up swearing, treating parents with respect or
dressing Islamically.

*Tip# 11: Help instil confidence in adults

*Adults, like Bart Simpson's dad Homer, are considered bumbling idiots in
the eyes of "teen culture". Your job as a young Muslim is to help turn the
tables on this false and unIslamic belief. All you have to do is this: when
a Muslim adult does something good (i.e. saving someone's life, donating
money to a worthy cause, the Imam gives a good speech, taking good care of
his/her family) bring it up in the course of your conversations with your
friend and praise the adult in question. Doing this regularly may not only
change your friend's perspective, but could lead to them seeing their own
parents in a more respectful way.

*Tip #12: Support them even when they become more practicing

*Remember, just because a person starts practicing Islam more regularly,
this does not mean everything will be okay from this point onwards. There
will still be hard times, difficulties. There may be times when your friend
may have doubts about his or her newfound practice of Islam. Be there to
reassure them.

Crackers - A Big Harm to the society !!! How can God want such harm???

COME DIWALI and one can hear the sounds of firecrackers exploding from all directions. People of all age groups are fascinated with firecrackers, which form a prominent part of the Diwali celebrations. Firecrackers are known to cause air pollution as well as noise pollution and are extremely harmful for senior citizens and small children.

Pets such as dogs and cats also suffer on account of firecrackers as animals have a more sensitive sense of hearing than humans. It is important for each one of us to act as responsible citizens and discourage the use of firecrackers.

Firecrackers can cause hearing loss, high blood pressure, sleeping disturbances and sudden exposure to loud noise can cause temporary or permanent deafness or even result in heart attack. Nausea and mental impairment are also some of the side effects of firecrackers.

Karuna Mehta an environmental activist says, “Firecrackers should be banned as they cause a number of health hazards.
People come down with all sorts of respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis. Air and noise pollution are also the side effects of firecrackers that are responsible for various injuries. The smog that is created on Diwali is responsible for a number of accidents due to reduced visibility.”

According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), a non-profit organization, awareness should be created for the masses. People need to understand that bursting firecrackers is not trendy anymore. It is important for the government to organize anti-firecracker campaigns and discourage people from bursting firecrackers. Parents as well as children should be educated on the harmful effects of firecrackers and environmental laws should be implemented strictly.

Observing that the ‘Right to Sleep’ is a fundamental right, the government of India has banned firecrackers between 10 pm and 6 am, on Diwali. The effect of this ban has been very positive and the sale of firecrackers has considerably gone down.

Anita Pal, a schoolteacher says, “It is important for children to understand that bursting crackers is harmful. We educate children before Diwali and discourage them from bursting firecrackers. We also ask them to educate their parents and relatives on the harmful effects of firecrackers as well as the dangers accompanying them.”

The Central Pollution Board of India has banned firecrackers with a decibel level of more than 125 at a distance of 4 meters from the bursting point. There has also been a considerable effort to do away with the infamous 1000 chain bombs.

Amrita Puri, executive says, “I can still recall the day when one of my neighbours had a heart failure on Diwali. It was on account of someone having burst a gola bomb in front of him. It was a sad incident and such mishaps can happen with anyone if we are not careful.”

CHILD LABOUR :

Its these small children who make these crackers, so many loose their life, so many get cancer, respiratory diseases and so on. Who cares? oh people wake up.. can God ask for such a religion?

Impoverished children from Haturia village in Bagnan are in the trade even after a nationwide ban on child labour. The little masters know that it's illegal and are apprehensive of police raids. In fact, they are also aware that the gunpowder they work with can turn deadly.

Yet their fingers nimble with the fatal powder stuffing a tubri or a dodoma, all these years after 25 such children were charred to death in a blast in Bagnan in 1995.

"We know it's risky, but can't help. It fetches us money and helps us make a living," said Mira Saha, a 12-year-old worker.

I think it says it All !!!

True Concept of God in Hinduism from the Hindu Scriptures:

"Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures." [Bhagavad Gita 7:20]

The Gita states that people who are materialistic worship demigods i.e. ‘gods’ besides the True God.

  • "Ekam evadvitiyam""He is One only without a second." [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]1

  • "Na tasya pratima asti""There is no likeness of Him." [Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19]3

  • The Brahma Sutra of Hinduism is:

"Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan"
"There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit."

if you truely want to worship God & get connected to your creator then give up these false worship acts & testify to the true God

It is better to pray with the niyyah of Qadha during the day time than to pray in the early part of the night.
Note: According to Ayatullah Seestani, the time for Salatul-Layl is from midnight to the Adhan time for Fajr prayers. However, it is better to pray near the time of Fajr prayers. Anyone who finds it difficult to pray Salatul-Layl after midnight can pray before midnight.

The blessed month of Ramadhan offers a good opportunity and convenient time to pray Salatul Layl, especially when the time of commencing the fast is favorable. Allah [swt] gives abundant reward for all our acts of worship during this blessed month, therefore, we need to make special efforts to pray the Salaat and keep it up for the rest of the year to raise our level of spirituality.
Please do not forget all of the believers throughout the world in your Salat al-Layl especially those downtrodden and oppressed Muslims of Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan Kashmir, Chechniya, Bosnia, and all over the globe.
Imam Ali ibn Husain (Zainul Aabideen) (as) Supplication for himself in Confessing Sins after Finishing the Tahajud Prayer MERITS
By praying Salatul-Layl one’s livelihood is increased, one passes easily through “Sakaraat” (great and grueling pain a dying person suffers at the time of death) and finds happiness in “Barzakh” (the Spiritual world where the departed souls stay either in happiness or misery, until the Day of Resurrection).
Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s.) quotes Imam Ali (as) as saying that the Prophet (saws) said that a person who prays Salatul-Layl gets the following twenty four kinds of benefits:
    1. Secures Allah’s pleasure.
    2. Makes friendship with Angels.
    3. Is the Sunnat of the Prophets (a.s.)
    4. Provides the means to pursue knowledge.
    5. Constitutes the root of our faith.
    6. Keeps one physically fit.
    7. Drives Shaytan away.
    8. Protects one from enemies.
    9. Serves as a means of acceptance of one’s Duas and good deeds.
    10. Increases one’s livelihood.
    11. Intercedes with the Angel of Death.
    12. Lights up the grave.
    13. Provides comfortable bedding in the grave.
    14. Helps answering with ease the questioning of Munkar and Nakir in the grave.
    15. Gives companionship in the grave.
    16. Provides shelter on the Day of Judgment.
    17. Crowns one on the Day of Reckoning.
    18. Clothes one on the Day of Resurrection.
    19. Provides one with light on the Day of Judgment.
    20. Forms a barrier against the fire of Hell.
    21. Gets Allah’s pardon on the Day of Judgment.
    22. Increases the weight of good deeds on the scale.
    23. Helps one crossing the Bridge of “Siraat” without any difficulty.
    24. Forms the key to the Paradise.
Fazilat (Merit) of reciting the Qaza of Namaz-e-Shab

If one misses the Namaz-e-Shab one can perform its Qaza during the day. If one has missed Namaz-e-Shab there is great merit in performing its Qaza. Thus there is a tradition fromImam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) in Tafseer Ali Ibne Ibrahim Qummi that a person said to Imam (a.s.): May I be sacrificed on you, sometimes I miss Namaz-e-Shab for one, two or three months and I perform it during the day, is such a thing allowed?

Imam (a.s.) said: By Allah! This action is the cause of the vision of your eyes. And he repeated this sentence thrice.

Ishaq bin Ammar has related from Imam Sadiq (a.s.) that he quoted his father who quoted the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) that when a person performs the Qaza of Namaz-e-Shab the Almighty Allah expresses pride before the Angels and says; O Angels! See he is performing the Qaza of that which I have not made obligatory on him. Be witness that I have given him salvation. (Beharul Anwaar Vol. 87 Pg. 202)

If while one is offering the Namaz-e-Shab and the dawn appears, for example the dawn has appeared after performing four rakats one should perform the rest of the prayer without recommended rituals. However if one has not prayed four rakats, one should complete the two rakats, then offer two rakats of the Nafila of the Morning Prayer, then two rakats obligatory Morning Prayer, and after this he should recite the Qaza of the rest of the Namaz-e-Shab. Or if he has not even begun reciting the Namaz-e-Shab and the dawn has arrived one should recite two rakats of Nafila of the Morning Prayer and then two rakats of Obligatory Morning Prayer. And after the Morning Prayer he should recite the Qaza of Namaz-e-Shab.

If one offers the Namaz-e-Shab after the Morning Azan and before Sunrise one must neither recite it with the intention of Qaza nor the intention of Adaa (in time), rather one should recite it with the intention of 'whatever is applicable'.

It means that one should make an intention that one is praying the Namaz-e-Shab for gaining the proximity to Allah. (Qurbatan Elallah).
